A popular feature now available at many resorts is “butler service” meaning you have a dedicated assistant to help you with all your vacation needs. And no one does butler service better than Sandals and Beaches Resorts. Their butlers are professionally trained, and help elevate your vacation to the NEXT LEVEL. But what is butler service and do you need a butler at Sandals or Beaches?
Should I get Butler Service at Sandals or Beaches?
Having a butler to cater your every whim sounds like a dream, and when booking your Sandals Resort or Beaches vacation, it’s a great way to elevate your resort stay. Butlers at Sandals are professionally trained by the Guild of English Butlers so they are in fact the real deal!
As a full-service travel agent and Certified Sandals Specialist, I sell lots of butler rooms to both Sandals and Beaches Resorts. The guests always have a fabulous time and I’ve never heard any regrets.
I recently stayed at Sandals Royal Caribbean in Montego Bay, Jamaica and had a butler level room (the Romeo and Juliet suite) and we loved having this service! So worth it and a great way to vacation like royalty.
PS For the ultimate getaway, consider an overwater bungalow, now at three Sandals resorts and complete with butler service OR a butler level villa at Beaches (Love the new butler villas at Beaches Negril that can sleep up to 18 guests!)
What does a butler do at Sandals?
Now I’m sure the first question you might have when deciding on Sandals Butler service is what does a butler do?
I was once told (by a butler on my trip to Sandals Grenada) that your Sandals Butler can do anything for you – that’s legal of course!
That’s probably true, but here are some things you can expect Sandals butlers to do for their guests:
– Help you unpack your suitcase
– They will make all your dining reservations for you. On your first day, let your butler know which restaurants you wish to dine at, and your preferred time. They will then set up a schedule for your stay.
– Make spa reservations for you. Now this you can pre-book before your stay, but if you don’t your butler will arrange for you
– Walk you to dinner
– Set up your beach/pool chairs with a cooler of your favorite drinks. This is my favorite butler perk – no getting up early to set up a spot. The butler will do this for you, and leave a reserved sign just for you!
– Bring you lunch when you are at the beach or pool. Of course, you can visit the restaurant, but if you don’t want a break from the sun, the butler will bring your mid-day meal right to you.
– Press/steam your clothes for you
– Set up a romantic in-room dinner for you. Order your food from room service but the butler can assist setting it up
Sandals Butler Tips – Maximize Your Butler Service
First of all, don’t be afraid to ask your butler for whatever you need. It’s their job and they are happy to assist.
How do you communicate your requests to your Sandals butler? On the butler phone!
Upon arrival, your butler will give you a phone you can use to call your butler at any time. You will have one or two butlers a day (maybe a third depending on the shifts) and your phone call will go right to whoever is on duty.
Butler level guests will receive in-room, private check in. When you arrive at Sandals, you will be greeted at the Club Sandals Lounge – here you can sit back and have a glass of champagne and a snack. When your butler arrives, he or she will escort you to your suite to begin check-in.
SANDALS PRO-TIP: Butler level guests also have access to all amenities at the Club Sandals lounge.
At this point, if you did not pre-send in your butler preference form, you can do it now. I definitely recommend doing this, so your butler has an idea of your preferences and can stock the room as you wish. When you book your Sandals/Beaches vacation with me, I help with all the pre-travel forms!
Butlers might also do extras for you – on my recent trip to Jamaica, we came home to a romantic bubble bath drawn by the butler, he brought us pizza on the beach, and left us cookies one evening.
It was so nice!
How to Book a Sandals Butler Suite and What Does It Cost to Have a Butler?

Worth noting that you CANNOT just ADD butler service to your reservation at Sandals or Beaches. You HAVE to book into a butler-level category.
What to Tip Your Butler At Sandals
At the end of your stay, it is advised to tip your butlers. Sandals has a FIRM no tipping policy with the exception of butlers. You can add gratuity to your bill or give cash. I would suggest putting the cash in an envelope and giving it to the front desk with your butler’s name on it. Amounts are at your discretion, but when my clients book their Sandals Vacation with me, I advise on specifics.
Is Butler Service Worth It at Sandals? Do you NEED a Butler at Sandals?
Well need is a strong word. I mean what in life do we really NEED?
Want? YES!
Will having a Sandals Butler significantly enhance your vacation? YES!
Is having a Sandals Butler a great way to make a vacation extra special? YES!
Honestly, the butler level rooms are the most expensive, but always the first to sell out at Sandals. Sandals guests love butler service.
And one thing I like about Sandals is no bracelets or really tiering guests, BUT when you are around the resort, you WILL notice the convenience of those who have a butler.
Especially mid-day, around the pool/beach area.
When the resorts are more full, it’s so nice to have someone going out early to reserve your chairs for you.
When you walk around and see folks with their little coolers of drinks, you will be a bit envious.
And for sure, mid-day you will notice the butler level guests utilizing this service when their butlers bring them drinks and food by the pool.
It’s just a nice extra that really enhances your vacation.
Remember too, if you want premium spirits in your suite, and/or 24-hour room service, you will need to book into a butler level room.
Lastly, if you are having a destination wedding at Sandals, or your honeymoon, booking into a butler category is a nice splurge!
