Naples Florida is my favorite place to vacation – and now with domestic travel heating up amid the recent health crisis, Southwest Florida is definitely becoming everyone’s favorite vacation spot! But where to stay in Naples, Florida? Keep reading for all the best resorts in Naples Florida.

Best Resorts in Naples, Florida

Naples Florida is my favorite family friendly beach destination. Naples has great beaches that rival anything you will find in the Caribbean! The Gulf of Mexico is so calm and clear, with soft sand, and great shelling. There is also so much to do with kids in Naples, and Naples has such unique activities if you want to relax and unwind.

I’ll be the first to admit, we go for the beach and water activities, but stay for the amazing restaurants in Naples! With so much outdoor and waterfront dining in Naples, you will definitely agree this is a foodie paradise!

But before you get to the beach, and go out to eat, you need to find somewhere to stay. In Naples, there are some great options if you want to stay downtown, on the beach and with whatever your budget is! In general, Naples is not the cheapest of destinations (although you can certainly visit Naples Florida on a budget).

Planning a trip to Naples Florida

If you are heading to Naples Florida, you will either fly to Southwest Florida airport (RSW) which is up in the Ft. Myers area, or you can drive down from north Florida or neighboring southern states.

Naples is really far south. I’ve done the New York to Florida drive MANY times (including driving to Florida during the pandemic) and once you cross into the state, Naples is still six hours away!

If you fly to Southwest Florida airport, you most likely will want to rent a car. If you are truly just going to stay on resort, you can Uber around, but the cost of a small rental car is probably comparable to round trip Ubers. And a car rental will give you flexibility and freedom to explore the area!

It is worth mentioning, that many hotels in this area charge for parking – definitely for valet, but some might charge for self-parking as well. Florida resorts are also NOTORIOUS for “resort fees” an added daily charge you will pay directly to your hotel when you arrive. These fees can be upwards of $40 per day, so can add up for a longer trip.

Beach on Marco Island

Choosing a resort can be tough. Some are big, some are small, some are on the beach, some just near it. Some resorts have better food, more drink options, and more entertainment than others. Of course, there is your budget to consider as well!

For those reasons, it’s always best to consult with a travel professional to help find the perfect resort for you next vacation. And the best part? My services are free!

That’s right, you get full on, personalized, concierge vacation planning service, and it does not cost you a cent more! In fact, a package vacation with one of my preferred suppliers can often save you money on your trip!

Where Should I Stay in Naples Florida?

This is a great question and definitely depends on what you want to do and of course, your budget.

What constitutes “Naples” is a large geographic area with Bonita Springs/North Naples in the north, heading down to South Naples and Marco Island. Most visitors opt to stay on the beach (more $$$) or in one of the large chain hotels along Route 41.

Just to note – Route 41 (or Tamiami Trail) is the main North/South drag where you will find many restaurants, shops, grocery stores and hotels. From a Route 41 hotel, you will have about a 5-10 minute drive to the beach.

If you stay along Interstate 75, you are further east, but further from the beach. From the Interstate you are a 15-20 minute ride to the beach. BUT being along the highway gives you access to go North (up to Ft Myers, Cape Coral, Sarasota, etc), South to Everglades City, or to head East to Miami, Ft Lauderdale or the Florida Keys.

In all honesty, the best resorts in Naples are along the beach! If you can work a beachfront stay into your budget, you won’t be disappointed!

Hyatt Regency Coconut Point

Hyatt Regency Coconut Point: Best Resorts in Naples Florida

I personally love staying at the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point. Back in 2020, baby girl and I did a day pass to this resort (which is a fun option if you end up staying somewhere else) and then we all stayed over in June of 2020. We cannot wait to go back!

The Hyatt Regency Coconut Point resort has a shuttle to a private beach, but the main attraction is the full-on waterpark on property! There is a lazy river, three waterslides and multiple pools. There is also an adults only area if you need a break from the kids! Access to the waterpark is included with your stay.

The Naples Beach Hotel and Golf Club – 2022 UPDATE – this hotel is closed

Naples Beach Hotel and Golf Club: Best Resorts in Naples Florida

I’ve visited the Naples Beach Hotel many times as its for years been my favorite sunset-watching bar location. I was there in the summer of 2020, and heard rumors this property was closing,  but as of this writing in February 2021, it looks to still be up and running.

This resort is located right on the beach, but has a Jack Nicklaus 18-hole championship golf course a short walk from the main resort. There is also a driving range, putting green and daily clinics are offered.

Ritz-Carlton Tiburon, Naples

The Ritz-Carlton Golf Resort is the one hotel on this list I have not personally been to – I am more of a beach girl myself! But this popular resort is perfect if you are in Naples to golf. Their website says DISCOVER TRANQUIL MOMENTS AND THRILLING PLAY AT FLORIDA’S PREMIER GOLF RESORT.

2022 UPDATE: I toured this hotel and its amazing! With a new waterpark, a quick, complimentary shuttle to the Ritz on the Beach, this is a hotel to not be overlooked!

Ritz Carlton Naples Golf Resort Waterpark

A stay at this resort gives you access to Tiburón Golf Club, home to two Greg Norman-designed courses. If you do want to head to the beach, a complimentary shuttle between the two Ritz-Carlton’s is provided.

2023 UPDATE – Baby girl and I got to spend a day at the Ritz Carlton Tiburon. We bought a day pass and spent an entire day in the pool, lazy river, and on the waterslides. The poolside food, drinks and service was incredible and I am sure a longer stay here would be awesome!

Best Resorts on Marco Island

Is Naples or Marco Island better for your next trip? Definitely depends on what you want to do and your budget. There are really no “cheap” accommodations on Marco Island. But if you stay on Marco, you can easily drive into Naples to experience the restaurants and fun things to do. If you stay in Naples proper, you can take a day trip down to Marco Island, park for the beach, or do something fun like a day trip to Keewaydin Island!

Marco Island is an actual island – you take a bridge to get there. From Southwest Florida airport, Marco Island is an hour ride south, so maybe not the best if you are short on time. Of course, be sure to reach out for my Free Travel Planning Services. As a full service agent, (and self proclaimed SW FL expert) I can help you choose the best place to stay in the Naples area.

Beach at Marco Island

  1. Most of our Florida vacations have been spent in Orlando at theme parks and I think it’s time that we start spending more time on the beach! A lot of families in our hometown own vacation homes in Naples but I didn’t realize that there were so many resorts there as well. It sounds like the perfect choice for us for a warm weather getaway!!

The Naples Beach Hotel will be closing and ultimately be torn down, at the end of May 2021, as will the golf course. It was sold to a company and will be replaced with a smaller, boutique hotel and condos. The golf course will be a redesigned with 9 or 10 holes. After so many years as a family owned operation and so many years of offering family fun, it will truly be missed and it’s absence will leave a hole in our old Florida history.
