Last summer I had the pleasure of spending two nights at the Hyatt Zilara Cancun, a fabulous adults-only all-inclusive located in the heart of Cancun’s hotel zone. This resort was honestly one of the best I’ve ever been to, and I am thrilled to share my full review with you. Keep reading for my full Hyatt Zilara Cancun review.

Hyatt Zilara Cancun Review: Adults Only All-Inclusive in the Cancun Hotel Zone

The Hyatt Zilara is a brand new, adults only, all-inclusive resort located right in the Cancun hotel zone. Hands down,  this was one of my most favorite resorts I have EVER  been to –  which says a lot.

I loved the size of this resort, large enough, but easy to navigate,  the pool, food, service were all fantastic,  but what is really amazing at this resort is the incredible views from your ocean front room.

Sitting on the balcony, either in the chairs or in the hammock, was the highlight of my Mexico stay. A quiet, private oasis!

Where is the Hyatt Zilara located and how far is Hyatt Zilara Cancun from the airport?

The Hyatt Zilara is located in Cancun’s famous hotel zone, about a 20 minute ride from the Cancun airport.

The hotel zone is known for beautiful beaches (hardly any seaweed),  access to the shops and nightlife nearby, beautiful sunsets over the lagoon and is an easy ride from the Cancun airport. With my kids we recently stayed at Iberostar Selection Cancun, which was also fantastic if you are looking for something family friendly!

What’s the Difference between Hyatt Ziva and Zilara?

Many guests confuse the two, but the Hyatt Zilara is adults only and the Hyatt Ziva is all ages. The Hyatt Ziva Cancun is up the street at the point of the hotel zone.  The Hyatt Ziva Cancun does have an adults only tower,  but is a separate resort and guests do not have exchange privileges at the Cancun properties. In Jamaica and Cap Cana, Dominican Republic adults guests do have reciprocal privileges. If you are heading to the west coast of Mexico, check out the Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta (there is no Zilara there) or the Hyatt Ziva in Cabo.

Rooms at the Hyatt Zilara Cancun

When I first arrived to my room, I was kinda like eh – I don’t love the authentic Mexican décor that is prominent in  Mexico resorts (a lot like my room at el Dorado Royale or Hard Rock Riviera Maya)  BUT once I saw the balcony and view, I was SOLD!

And honestly, the room was so well-appointed and comfortable.

Oceanfront Room at Hyatt Zilara Cancun

I loved the split bath, with a separate toilet/shower and a sink – so easy when  two people are trying to get ready at the same time.

In room mini-bars are stocked with beer, water, soda, and a few snacks.  I also loved the inside jacuzzi soaking tub,  what a great way to relax and unwind!

The Hyatt Zilara Cancun offers ocean view, ocean front, swim up rooms, master suites and presidential suites. Honestly, I highly recommend booking an ocean front room, as the view is the true star of this resort.

Choosing an all-inclusive resort can be tough. Some are big, some are small, some are on the beach, some just near it. Some resorts have better food, more drink options, and more entertainment than others. Of course, there is your budget to consider as well!

For those reasons, it’s always best to consult with a travel professional to help find the perfect resort for you next vacation. And the best part? My services are free! CLICK THE BANNER BELOW TO GET STARTED:

Property Amenities at Hyatt Zilara Cancun

For a smaller resort, you will have everything you need at the Hyatt Zilara Cancun.

The pool is the star of the property – expansive from north/south, with poolside entertainment and some quiet nooks as well.  Bali beds are first come, first serve, and there were plenty of servers bringing around drinks.

The beach at the Hyatt Zilara Cancun is small but beautiful. The resort offers plenty of chairs and Bali Beds on the beach for guests’ use. When I visited in July 2021, there wasn’t too much seaweed, just a tiny bit – nothing like the mess further south when I stayed at the Hilton Playa del Carmen. (this is very common in the summer months)

If you are looking for additional Zen, be sure to visit the Spa, with the most beautiful hydrotherapy room I’ve ever seen! Included with your spa treatment, or you can do hydrotherapy for only $29.

Hyatt Zilara Cancun Hydrotherapy

Another unique feature of the spa- the alchemy room. Here you can mix your own body scrub,  totally customized to you!

If you want to work out during your stay – head to the on-site gym. Located on the third floor (it was a little tricky to find) this gym has a stretching room, Pilates reformer room and all the gym equipment you need for your work out.

Outside of the gym is a lap infinity pool. This hidden gem would be the perfect place to see an over-lagoon sunset, or just relax anytime.

It’s also an easy ride to the Mayan Ruins at Chicen Itza, the adventure parks at Xel-ha or Xcaret, down to Coba or up to Isla Mujeres. You can also grab a ferry to Cozumel.

Can you Swim in the Ocean at Hyatt Zilara Cancun?

This is a question we get all the time about the resorts in Cancun – because not all of the resorts have great beaches. But you can swim in ocean at the Hyatt Zilara Cancun. The beach is really nice and when I visited in July 2021, there wasn’t much seaweed. (There were some days that were less seaweed than others).

This is AVERAGE at best .. I stayed at Graca Blanca and that beats all these by miles.. infinity pool at roof top, heated seats, no buffets , full room service with large balconies and patio sets

Mexico remained open for business over the pandemic, and handled it well. Very well. As the rest of the Caribbean was shut down, people gave the Mexican Caribbean a chance. They realized what we knew all along, Mexico is a wonderful vacation. Mexico , and Cancun area in particular, has something for everyone. Mexico has a wide variety of options, for a reasonable price. It has great beaches, but most importantly, the most amazing aquamarine water, that is matched by only a few places in the world. The Mexican people , particularly of Mayan heritage, are warm and friendly,. And incredibly hardworking. My wife and I have been traveling to Mexico since 1989. We have rarely had a bad trip(although we did recently). Mexico is a place where we can relax, and forget about work. I don’t need to do anything. It’s unique place.

We are cruise fanatics but when the pandemic hit cruises stopped and girlfriend wouldn’t get the shot. So we started doing all inclusives. The all inclusives were very reasonable but now these all inclusives getting pricier. Headed to hyatt zilara 02 06 2024
