Just popping in to wish you and your family the happiest of holidays!

I plan to do a full 2017 recap next week (and look back at this year’s travel goals) while thinking ahead to 2018. But I am excited to see a full return to blogging after the new year. You might have noticed its been a little quiet around here these past two months!

For good reason! On October 30 I started working back at the school I taught at before I had kids. They had someone leave unexpectedly and were in a major jam to find a replacement. I took it on thinking it would be for a week or two, but it turned into a 2 month, full-time gig. I knew it was a temporary thing for me, given the 90+ minute commute to AND from the school each day, all while trying to still balance my family AND growing math tutoring business!

So the end of 2017 was definitely not what I expected, and it was tough balancing everything on my plate, but it was a great experience, I earned some extra money and allowed me to further think about what I want long term (HINT: 3+ hours of commuting a day was not it!).

I hope everyone’s last week in December is a joyful one- no matter what you celebrate or if you stay close to home or travel far! We will be celebrating Christmas here and then heading out on two short-ish road trips, one for two nights and one just for one night. I am definitely looking forward to the New Year, being back  at home and continuing to grow my blog, tutoring business, writing portfolio and well, take on whatever else comes my way.

At the beginning of December I was interviewed by the Vacation Mavens for their podcast. I talked about my favorite family vacation spot- SW Florida, so if you have some time, please check it out. I was so excited to be a part of it, and I hope to be involved with more of this media in 2018!

Till then stay warm, safe travels & Happy Holidays! What are your holiday plans?

  1. I look forward to your 2017 recap! It sounds like you have had a full and rewarding year. SW Florida is a great place, but so is SE Florida and North Central Florida: so many beautiful parks and unique adventures! Good luck with the tutoring business.

  2. What an amazing end to the year. I ended my year with graduating from college, accepting a full-time teaching position starting in January, and will be heading to Israel for ten days this weekend. Happy New Year!

  4. Cant wait to see your recap! I can’t believe you took on that commute, You go girl! I thought my 45 min back and forth was bad.. I am so happy that Christmas is over. Don’t get me wrong I love it, but now I’m ready to party and bring in the new year! I think I might go downtown San Diego with all the crazy tourists. I hope you enjoy the rest of your year 🙂

  5. I had a similar unexpected busy season this year too! Glad it gave you some perspective for the new year. 🙂 Good luck with the tutoring! I’m a math girl too – majored in math and work as an analyst (when I’m not blogging about home design and entertaining!) 😉
