About Me, Travel

It feels so cliché to say I can’t believe 2017 is coming to a close, but it’s so true! I literally just sat down to write my 2016 travel recap and yeah, here it is a year later!

Despite a crazy, three-week long sickness, and working my tail off in the later part of this year, 2017 has been very good to me. Especially travel-wise. Which is definitely not coincidental. I have been on a mission to create the life I want to live – doing things I enjoy both personally and professionally. Which certainly includes the flexibility to be on the go!

Work-wise I continued to grow my math tutoring business, I worked all summer at camp and had the best time! Writing and creating this site has taught me so much, and I hope to really expand Momma To Go in 2018. My plan is to set some goals and get myself in a better working schedule balancing writing, social sharing and updating old posts. I’ve been learning more and more about SEO and hope to do some writing outside of Momma To Go!

Last year, at this same time, I recapped my 2016 travel year. A year, which brought a three-week trip to Hawaii, was hard to top, but we tried! So here is my 2017 Travel Year in Review!

About Me

Just popping in to wish you and your family the happiest of holidays!

I plan to do a full 2017 recap next week (and look back at this year’s travel goals) while thinking ahead to 2018. But I am excited to see a full return to blogging after the new year. You might have noticed its been a little quiet around here these past two months!

About Me, Travel

I turned off the lukewarm water and stepped out of the shower. I really thought a quick rinse would make me feel better. Twelve hours in the 100-degree Disneyland heat will wear you down and I was a sweaty mess.

Friday night I went to bed feeling slightly cleaner, but still a bit dizzy. A little nauseous. I fell sleep thinking about the next day’s drive to San Diego.

I tossed and turned through the night – nothing new to me on this California trip. The combo of hotel pillows and jetlag meant I was rolling over every couple of hours. Except tonight, each roll gave me the spins. I felt like I was intoxicated. Which was ironic, because Disneyland doesn’t even serve alcohol and this was the first night on the weeklong vacation that I hadn’t drank wine! I was exhausted from a long day at the park, but stone cold sober.

I woke up on Saturday, stood up and felt like the floor was spinning. I barely made it to the bathroom. I immediately knew I was not well. I looked at the clock.

8am.

Liebster Award https://www.mommatogo.com

I am so excited to be nominated for the Liebster Award by Michelle of the blog, Sage Creek Meadow. I met Michelle through a blogging group, and she is such a supportive and collaborative blogger. Plus she has SEVEN kids! And somehow makes it all look easy!

Plus, these “awards” are just a great way to get to know more about the person behind the pen, I mean, computer! I love reading the answers to peoples questions. Last month I participated in the Sunshine Blogger award, which you can read about here.

I stumbled up Wellington World Travels through a Travel Blogger Facebook Group I am a part of. I clicked the link to this story on Why Traveling with Kids with is Worthwhile, and was immediately sucked in to their posts. Handel and Carmen are ex-pats, living in Qatar with their super adorable son, Charles. I love that they admit they love to share their travels, but aren’t too keen on lots of writing, so they do what they know- share their love of the world through beautiful photographs.

I am so honored to be nominated by them for the Sunshine Blogger Award!

About Me

In my first post, I mentioned how last June I left formal teaching. At that point I wasn’t sure what I would be doing professionally, but this school year I fell into some subbing and a lot of tutoring – which I love. I do miss teaching math, but I honestly don’t miss the long hours, difficult parents & students, and the endless pile of work and grading.  Tutoring affords a good balance of a part-time schedule, the opportunity to work one-on-one with students and to really see their progress. And it gives me more time to be with my family, travel and work on Momma To Go!

So when EDUCATION.COM approached me to partner with them on getting the word out on some of their kids’ math activities, it seemed like a great opportunity! I am all about active learning and fun activities with my little ones. When an activity can be educational – well, thats a win/win!

About Me, Travel

Recently, I have seen some other travel bloggers putting together both 2016 travel recaps and 2017 travel resolutions, and I figured what a fun way to look back at the year and all of the great trips we have done! And of course I have a few adventures I am excited about in 2017! I only just launched this blog in October, and did not get an opportunity to write about everything we did in the first three-quarters of the year! So without further adieu… I give you the Momma To Go 2016 Travel Recap!

About Me

I’m feeling all the emotions sitting down to finally start Momma To Go. This post isn’t just the first of my site, but the first page of my story – the culmination of so many factors that have pushed and prodded me to this point in my life.

I seriously might cry.

Happy tears
